Welcome!

Come to the 44th Japanese Science Fiction Convention, HAMACON2 "Verne's Dream", on July 16th and 17th at Pacifico Yokohama!
Much of this year's programming will be in English at this year's Japanese Science Fiction Convention.
You can look forward to interpreted panel discussions on Japanese Sci-Fi and Anime, the latest movies, Anime information, and much more!

Program

Here are the types of programming and events at the Japanese Science Fiction Convention:

Panel discussions

Panel discussions translated into English on topics such as the early days of Japanese Anime and Sci-fi, Japanese and American fandom, American Anime conventions, and more.
All the time during which panels are running there will be at least one translated discussion panel running.

Games

There will also be a wide variety of games, including board games, go, and human battleships (where people are blindfolded and try to sink each other), etc.

Dealers' Room

There will be a wide variety of items for sale in the Dealers' Room, from doujinshi, to accessories, to capes, and more!
You can also run your own booth.
A 180cm x180cm space is available free of charge for use by HAMACON2 attendees who apply.
However, tables and chairs are not provided.
For those who think "I want the tables and chairs to be arranged for me by the convention", a set that includes 2 chairs and 1 table will be available to rent for 500 yen per set but please be aware that applications made during the days of the convention for tables and chairs can not be immediately accommodated.
You can use the space freely for your layout.
Feel free to sell whatever you'd like, for example: doujinshi, plushies, original illustrations, T-shirts, costumes, toys that came in snack packages, etc.
There should be enough electricity so that you can use as much as you'd like, but it is possible that electricity may not be available if there is a capacity problem.
To avoid problems on the days of the convention, please check your application form carefully to make sure there are no mistakes.
You can download the application form the convention's home-page or contact the HAMACON2 office and request a form to be sent to you.
Also, please be aware that the convention reserves the right to ban any items for sale or exhibits that it deems inappropriate.

Artshow

Artshow exhibitions from pictures to statues are a recognized field of Sci-fi expression.
The HAMACON 2 Artshow will feature not only works by professional artists, but also works by amateur and works for sale or auction.
Items that can be displayed include things such as various styles of pictures, statues, figures, accessories that you designed, etc.
However, only HAMACON2 attendees may exhibit works.
The basic size of the panels that will be available for exhibiting works are 90cm x 210cm per surface.
If you are not selling your works, you may use one (90cm x 210cm) surface free of charge.
If you wish to sell your works, there will be a 500 yen charge to use the first surface.
If you wish to use more than one surface, for each additional surface after the first there will be a 1000 yen charge,
regardless of whether the works will be for sale or not.
The HAMACON2 Artshow will be a great opportunity to experience artwork up close, purchase artworks, and meet the artists.
Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity and exhibit your works!

Masquerade&Cosplay

There will be changing roomsavailable for those wishing to take part in Cosplay or the Masquerade.
Cosplayers will be able to show off their costumes on stage at the Masquerade and there will also be a Best Costume hall contest.

Ragistration

  • Full Registration: for attending the convention.
    • The Organizing Committee will send booklets (Progress Reports) which give information on what type of events will be held etc. to professionals who will be attending the convention.
      3 or 4 such Progress Reports are scheduled to come out before the convention.
    • The convention Program Book will be handed out on the days of the convention.
  • 1 Day Attendance: 1 Day Attendance is basically the same as the full registration except that you will need to choose which day (Saturday or Sunday) that you will attend.
    • For those who have never attended a Sci-fi con before, please consider this registration classification as a trial.
    • After registering for one day, you can convert to both days' full registration by paying the difference between the one day registration you already paid and the price for full registration.
  • Supporting Membership: a Supporting Membership costs 3,000 yen, regardless of age or when you apply.
    • A Supporting Membership does not allow you to attend the convention.
    • You will be sent the Progress Reports the same as a full registered attendee and also those who didn't upgrade will be sent the Program Book at a later date.
    • For those with an uncertain schedule who are not sure if they will be able to attend the convention or not, please consider this registration classification as a type of insurance.
    • You can convert to a full registration or a one day registration by paying the difference in price between the Supporting Membership that you already paid and the price of the Attending Membership that you want to covert to.
    • Important * there are discounts for age and early application.
    • The attendance fee is based on age and date of application as show below.
    • (Age is based on your age as of April 1st 2005).
      Please print as clearly as possible.
  • The marked numbers are required information (numbers 1, 2, 5, 13, 14, 17, 18, and 19).
  • Please be careful not to omit any of the necessary information.
  • Please use a ball point pen to fill in the form if possible.
  • Please do not use felt pens, markers, etc. that will bleed or smear.

      Those with pen names etc.
      Please enter them in a short and easy to remember form.
      • For those who want this name printed on their badges, be sure to circle [HA-I"Yes"].
      • If you choose [I-I-E"No"], your real name will automatically become the name printed on your badge.
    4. Gender:
      We would like to collect this information for our statistics, so please if possible circle the appropriate gender.
    5. Date of Birth:
      Please enter your date of birth.
    6. Blood Type:
      In case there is an accident, this information may be necessary, so if possible please enter your blood type.
    7. E-mail address, phone number, etc:
      E-mail will be used for registration information confirmations, and to notify members of necessary information.
      • Please enter the e-mail address that you regularly use.
      • Also, if anything comes up and the Organizing Committee has to contact members to pass on urgent information, e-mail may be used.
      • Phone number etc.: if you have a phone number etc., please enter it if possible.
    8. Emergency Contact Information:
      This is contact information in case you are injured or there is some other emergency at the convention.
      • If more contact information is necessary, besides numbers 1 and 7, please include them on the form.
    9. Parent/Guardian Permission section:
      Anyone under the age of 18 at the convention (as of July 16th 2005), must have the signed permission of his/her parent or guardian.
    10. Disabled Attendees: [Is assistance necessary?] :
      If assistance is necessary, please circle "Yes".
      • Preferred method of contact: for those who that they will need assistance, the Organizing Committee will contact you.
      • Please enter your preferred method of contact.
      • Assistant's Name: if you will be accompanied by an assistant, please enter the assistant's name (you may change your assistant anytime).
      • A Disabled Attendee may be accompanied by one assistant who may attend for free.

      Those wishing to be registered as staff will be sent separate materials from the Organizing Committee, so please circle the "Yes" option if you wish to take part as a Staff Member.

      Please circle the letter that matches the letter at the end of the appropriate age classification and application period.
      Please be aware that choices B and C are no longer available.

      For those choosing the one-day attendance (choices F, G, and H), be sure to circle the day that you wish to attend.
      You can change your scheduled attendance day any time until the end of April.
    17. Your age at the time of the convention:
      Please make sure that the age classification you choose is correct.
    18. Day of Payment:
      Please make sure that the application period you choose is correct.
    19. Information that will be released in the Progress Reports and on the web-page:
      So that you can make sure that you are properly registered, lists of the names (or badge-names if preferred) of those registered to attend HAMACON2 will be printed in the Progress Reports and posted on the web-page so that you can search and find your name and registration status.
      Only your country, state/province/prefecture, name (or badge-name), and registration classification will be released, but if you do not wish this information to be released, please choose "do not release".
  • Important
    • If you accompany a child who is younger than elementary school age, a name badge for the child will be prepared so please fill out an application for the child (infants may not need name badges, so parents or guardians please decide).
    • Also, please send children's applications in the same envelope as the applications of their parents or guardians.
    • In the case where the payments for multiple applicants are paid for together in one postal transfer, please place the applications of all the applicants in the same envelope as the one containing the application of the person who made the transfer.
    • Beforehand it applies and can be done until June 30.
    • You can accept in the hall on July 16 and July 17.
